Halferty Selected to Finance & Commerce's Top Women in Finance Award

Stinson LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Laura Halferty has been honored in the 2023 class of Finance & Commerce's Top Women in Finance. This award recognizes women who are making an impact in their professions and communities by breaking down barriers and paving the way for others.

Chair of the firm's Tax, Trusts, and Estates Division, Halferty has counseled clients on all aspects of estate planning for 25 years. With a focus on structuring lifetime gifts, business succession plans and prenuptial agreements, she represents corporate and individual fiduciaries in probate and trust administration matters, gift and estate tax filings and audits, and in disputed probate and trust matters. She works collaboratively with financial advisors, accountants, corporate and individual trustees, and beneficiaries to administer estates and trusts efficiently and professionally. Halferty is particularly known as a trusted advisor to clients facing high-stress situations.

“I love that I never see the same thing twice,” Halferty told the publication. “I get to see the difference that I make and the help I provide to real people, not big corporations. The most fulfilling experience is seeing the gratitude from a client and knowing that when their families will go through some of the most emotional moments of their life, this is not something they’re going to worry about.”

Halferty's commitment also extends to community engagement. She currently serves on the board of the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts where she builds support for the arts in the twin cities community as a member of the Advancement Planning Committee and Secretary. She has previously served on the board and executive committee of the Friends School of Minnesota. Halferty has been repeatedly recognized with the North Star Lawyer award from the Minnesota State Bar Association for contributing over 50 hours annually to pro bono service.

Honorees were celebrated at an event on Thursday, November 16 in Minneapolis.
