Stinson IP&T Attorneys Secure Injunction and Settlement for American Outdoor Brands

Press Release
09.28.2023

Stinson LLP secured a settlement and permanent injunction on behalf of firm clients American Outdoor Brands (AOB) and AOB Products Company. The firm served as AOB's outside patent counsel in a case involving The Allen Company's (Allen) infringement of several AOB patents.

In February 2023, AOB filed a patent infringement complaint against Allen relating to several of Allen's shooting rests, targets and target stands. AOB's lawsuit contended that these products infringed seven utility patents owned by AOB.

On September 25, 2023, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado entered a permanent injunction against Allen, which protects AOB's intellectual property.

"We are very pleased to serve AOB," Stinson Partner David Barnard said. "It is an honor to help protect AOB's intellectual property to maximize its investment in research and development and allow it to remain focused on its core business. We look forward to continuing our work with AOB."

Prior to enforcement against Allen, the firm assisted AOB in obtaining the patents.

"AOB is passionate about innovation in product development, and we are passionate about obtaining strong patents to protect those innovations," Stinson Partner Bill Everding said. "I am proud of our team and that our patents have proven again to be effective tools in protecting AOB's market share."

Stinson attorneys involved in this matter include Partners David Barnard and Bill Everding and attorneys Judith Araujo, Adrianna Chavez and Steven Levitt.
