The Business Observer published an article, "Law firm adopts people-first approach to expansion," featuring Stinson LLP Partner Marc Weintraub and the firm's new Tampa office.

The article features Stinson's "softer, more personable approach" to the lateral market and expanding operations in Florida, including insight from Stinson's Managing Partner Allison Murdock, and details Weintraub's decision to leave a job after 17 years of service.

"Stinson is Midwestern in its culture, and I think that plays really well on the west coast of Florida," Weintraub said. "I knew that I would fit in with Stinson’s culture, but I also knew that Stinson’s culture would fit in well in Tampa."

Stinson's culture prioritizes personal connection, something that Murdock emphasizes as important for the firm if wanting to achieve success in the legal profession.

"Without that human connection, that trust in one another, you can't get to the success part," Murdock stated.

Both Murdock and Weintraub note that following firm clients was the most practical reason behind expanding the firm with an office in Tampa, Florida. Stinson's clients and their businesses – about half of the firm's 100 largest clients – are already doing business in Florida. Weintraub says having a physical office in the state will strengthen existing relationships.

"Visiting those clients, thanking them for being our clients and then letting them know that we're available in Florida is going to be a key part of building out this office," he commented.

Weintraub joined Bailey & Glasser LLP in 2006 and had been the managing partner of the firm's Tampa office since 2015. He joined Stinson in May 2023 along with Partner Stephen Putnoki-Higgins, Of Counsel Kurt Gleeson and attorneys Gregory Payton and April Petrosino. Longtime Stinson Partner Todd Phelps is also located in the firm's new Tampa office, splitting his time between the Sunshine State and Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Murdock says Stinson is looking for the right partners to join the firm. Weintraub says the firm is on track to hire anywhere from six to 20 attorneys by this time next year.

"There's an incredible amount of growth going on in the central part of the state, and I think the quality of life in the central part of the state is fantastic. As a result, we’re seeing people and businesses flock here," Weintraub said. "Our clients and their businesses are taking advantage of opportunities in Florida as Florida grows – we're just following."
